Horizontal Coherence

A horizontally defined curriculum is similar to the curriculum of an equal course, lesson, or grade level.   • Some schools have developed various levels at the basic, intermediate, and advanced levels, with a clear expectation of more sophisticated skill growth occurring progressively throughout the course program.
  • Also, curriculum mapping can be done by effectively understanding a student's abilities. For example, if a faculty is scheduled to begin lectures in the month of June with new students, it will be helpful if they start working on assignments for the new students prior to the new lectures. To ensure better student learning outcomes, the teachers have to assess whether the new learners are on the same grade level, behind, or ahead of the grade. This will give a complete description of the relevant skills of various students and their requirements.

Various curriculum mapping samples can be used to simplify the overall mapping process. The institute can generate various templates, which it can expand to outline the key areas within a unit. It can be made robust with long descriptions, plans, and contents that influence step-by-step instruction.

Also, these samples can include a unit description which has a basic outline of what is going to be covered, when, and how. It's critical to include information which is relevant to the unit and can clearly explain what will be taught and covered in that specific unit.

Instructors should always maintain curriculum flexibility. Sometimes they can face difficulty in curating lesson plans and realize that a lot of time has been used in planning instructions. During these times, flexibility and adaptability helps in effective curriculum mapping.
